Unfortunately, religiosity can be rife with pride. Our Scripture today from the final chapter of Galatians addresses this very issue. Paul ends his letter with a fierce warning about not “boasting in the flesh.” He writes this conclusion in his own hand.

Paul makes several points that build upon one another:

• The work of God on the Cross is complete. There is nothing we need to add to it.
• The result of His work is for us to be a “new creation.”
• As a “new creation,” we have absolutely no room for pride.
