There are two distinct stories in our Gospel reading today, but I want to suggest to you they perhaps are not so distinct. I think the Gospel writer, Luke, was making a point by putting these stories next to each other, but more importantly Jesus demonstrated the connection.  

These consecutive stories tells the tale of blindness and sight, both in the disciples and in the beggar and ultimately God’s desire for us to see truth.
