An Email Christmas Gift
I love getting those emails that just have a story, an encouragement, or a lesson that you didn’t expect. I received one of those from Rev. Dan Lewis this week that blessed me so much I asked if I could share it with all of you.
Rev. Dan and his wife Peggy, retired 10 years ago after leading a church in Troy, MI for 34 years. Now I call him our resident scholar and teacher at Mariners’. Dan and Peggy’s main teaching call, however, is to seminaries around the world traveling to Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, Austrailia, New Zealand and parts of the US, teaching leaders in the churches there. If you ever want to experience Rev. Dan’s teaching first hand, please come to his class at 10am on Sundays. He will be starting a new series in January.
Dan not only is a world renowned Bible teacher, but he is a somewhat of a Renaissance man. When he takes on a hobby like golf, model train building, or guitar, he becomes a teacher to others around him, and even to the nation. For example, his model train building techniques are published and studied by enthusiast in magazines specializing in this craft.
Guitar is another area that he quietly displays God’s glory, playing in a church their son started on Sunday nights, and occasionally playing with students he teaches around the world.
In the email I received from him this week, Dan said to me:
