When we read healing passages in the Bible, we tend to have 2 major responses:

Either

  • You have to fight a deeper sense of skepticism. It’s as if the Scriptures were talking about something so far removed from our reality that you can’t really picture it. You kind of glance over these passages. Don’t want to spend much time thinking about what they mean. It may be mythology or fiction with a message, like the Odyssey, recently out in movie form.

Or

  • The story is true. 100%.  You are in awe of God. // You wish you could have been there to witness the miracles. Some of us want to experience miracles in our own lives today and wish the same for our loved ones.

You won’t be surprised this is my take on stories of healing.  I believe we should pray for healing and God does still heal miraculously today.  I’ve seen it and perhaps you have too.

Maybe there is a 3rd group of those with faith that believe the healing stories are true, but you ask yourself “what is the immediate application for me today” if God doesn’t heal me or my loved one?  How does this scripture affect my life and how I view God.  When I pray and God doesn’t heal, what is the point of these stories?
