Prayer- As a Way of Life

Why do we pray? If God already knows our heart and mind, why “bother” Him with prayer?

I don’t know how many times I’ve encountered people who think that prayer is either an inconvenience to God because He has more important things to do, or a desperate last resort when things get really bad. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact,  people who think that way usually feel very distant from the Truth, the I am (John 14:6).

It’s not God who is the one distant from us. It’s our wrong perception of who He is that can drive us away from Him.

Sometimes, prayer can be seem as an offering of thanksgiving, confession, intercession, or petition. All of that is great, but in some cases we can still feel disconnected from God, far from the “abundant life” Jesus promised.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may  have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. (John 10:10-11)

How is this abundant life manifested in us? How can we experience a way of life that is a ‘living and breathing prayer’?

In the next few weeks, we will be teaching and practicing prayer together in the sanctuary on Wednesday nights (see more info below). We invite you all to join us. No matter what your experience with, or understanding of prayer has been in the past, we would love for you to come.

This is not about intellectual pursuit. Although, our minds will be enriched, this is really a time for us to come together and experience God’s Presence as we grow in our spiritual journey. Bring your friends and family.

Let us all come with an expectation for a deeper encounter with the Lord!

Blessings and Peace,

Rev. Todd and Dr. Christiane

4 WEEK PRAYER CLASS STARTING WED, May 13th

Dr. Christiane and I will be leading a 4-week prayer class starting Wednesday, May 13th at 6:30-7:30pm at the church, in the sanctuary. We hope this is an opportunity to learn more about the power of prayer, while reigniting a passion for prayer. If you are interested, please reply to this email. We are looking forward to going deeper in this central topic of our Christian formation.
