Mariners’ Church will be hosting a traditional Shrove Tuesday Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, March 3, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Julia Anderson Room.  Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, is the first day of Lent.  Historically it was a day of penitence to “clean the soul,” as well as a day to use up all the foods in the house that observant Christians would not be eating.  Pancakes became associated with Shrove Tuesday in the United Kingdom as they were a dish that used up all the eggs, fats and milk with just the addition of flour.  So please join us for this fun (and delicious!) tradition as we look forward to the beginning of Lent.
