Continuing a long tradition, on 2 Thursdays in Advent there will be noon-time recitals in conjunction with a short service of Holy Communion at Mariners’ Church of Detroit. Offered to the Parish and the Community-at-large as moments of musical and spiritual refreshment and prayer during a very busy season of preparation for Christmas,
On Thursday the 14th of December: a recital of Organ Music given by Parish Organist Kevin J. Bylsma. Poetry readings will alternate with Organ Music.
On Thursday the 21st of December: a recital featuring several Members of the Church’s Professional Choir, with Mr. Bylsma at the Piano. Poetry readings will alternate with the music.
The Church’s 78-rank pipe organ built by D. F. Pilzecker & Company, and the Yamaha U5 Memorial Piano, will be featured.
On each Thursday, the short Communion Service, celebrated by the Rector of the Parish, the Rev. Todd A. Meyer, will begin at 12:10 PM; the Recitals follow at 12:40. Each recital will be about 45 minutes in length. A light lunch will be available afterwards. All are welcome; admission is free of charge. Parking will be validated for the Ford Underground Garage.
