Please plan to attend our annual Great Lakes Memorial Service on Sunday, November 7th, at 11:00 o’clock. This service honors all of the sailors who have served on the Great Lakes and have departed this earthly life, and also gratefully remembers all military personnel who have sacrificed their lives to gain and maintain our freedoms. Everyone is invited. Shipmasters, Merchant Mariners, Coast Guard, Navy, Army Corps of Engineers, Canadian Armed Forces and Mounted Police, and other Great Lakes-related personnel are invited to wear their uniforms and participate in the Honor Guard.
In the 11:00 o’clock service of Holy Communion on October 31st, we will give thanks for All the Saints, and we will commemorate the faithful whom we have known and loved who have passed into God’s eternal kingdom. In the Liturgy, the Choir will sing Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, accompanied by our fine organ and a solo violin. Visitors are always welcome to worship with us.
Welcome to the first-ever Mariners’ Church of Detroit Blog. After much discussion with our Board and other key members of the parish we brainstormed on how to become more socially active with our members and with the metro Detroit community. We came up with some good ideas…some bad ideas… and eventually landed on a Blog. We want Mariners’ to move into the 21st century in our communications outreach and we want to do whatever we can to bring the outside in.
We want to let you know about what’s going on in the church on a more regular basis, invoke discussions, showcase Mariners’ strong suits and work on its weaknesses, offer thought filled sermons, honor historic memories and encourage the community to embrace the church and all of its members.
We hope you’ll join us on our social media journey and welcome your friends to read along with us. We’ll be in touch soon, and we hope you’ll be in touch with us.
